Interview with Hans Ladum-Poulsen, Heat Management’s newest representative
October 1, 2026 /

With many years of experience in the boiler and energy sector, Hans brings a strong understanding of both the technical and commercial challenges facing power producers today.
Through his collaboration with Heat Management, he is helping us strengthen our presence in the Danish market and connect our solutions with the needs of local boiler operators. We sat down with Hans to hear more about his background, his view of the Danish market, and where he sees opportunities for HISS and Infrasound Cleaning.
Q: Hans, you’ve spent many years working with boilers and energy producers. What first pulled you into this industry, and what has kept you there?

Q: You know the Danish market well. What makes it different from other boiler and energy markets?
Compared to the markets south of Denmark, the Danish market does not favour local suppliers. As such, it is highly competitive. However, sustainability plays an important role, so soft values like reuse of equipment and a safer working environment can tip the job in your direction.
Q: When you look at boiler plants today, where do you think operators are under the most pressure to improve?
Electricity prices have been low for quite a while. This means that selling MWhs will not do the job alone. Other services, like grid balancing, i.e. delivering additional power within seconds, are contributing more to the plant’s income than before. Therefore, striving towards a more agile plant is where many power producers are focusing.
Q: What made Heat Management’s technology interesting to you, and where do you think it can make the biggest difference for Danish plants?
As energy efficiency has played an important role in Denmark since the early 1990s, both HISS and infrasound should be able to make a difference. However, many of the Danish plants only run their sootblowers 1–2 times a day, making the simple business case for HISS tricky.
Q: Technical solutions are often sold on efficiency and savings, but what actually gets operators to listen and take action in your experience?
It is my understanding that boiler cleaning in general does not pose a great practical problem in Denmark. With regard to infrasound, the more continuous and gentler cleaning method appeals to Danish operators, whereas HISS has its advantages for smaller plants where one sootblower is consuming a significant amount of the steam produced and thereby leading to stability issues. Steam saving alone will hardly do the job.
Q: Looking ahead, what are you most interested in exploring through your collaboration with Heat Management?
I hope my background and knowledge can assist Heat Management in getting a sizeable bite of the power market. Furthermore, representing Heat Management in Denmark and elsewhere means being an actual salesperson rather than a manager of the same. This transformation is a personal challenge for me that I find interesting to explore.
Thank you, Hans, for sharing your insights and experience. We look forward to continuing the collaboration and seeing what opportunities lie ahead in the Danish power boiler market.
If you would like to learn more about HISS, Infrasound Cleaning, or discuss the challenges and opportunities at your plant, feel free to get in touch with Hans to continue the conversation:
