Biomass boiler

Biomass boilers are used to create energy in the form of electricity and/or heat from the use of various types of biofuel.

About Biomass boilers

Biofuels offer challenges in order to reach high efficiency and availability. Biofuel normally tends to create gas-side fouling in all parts of the boiler.

About cleaning

Benefits of our soot cleaning systems for Biomass boilers

Reduced steam consumption for steam sootblowing. Saved sootblower steam is used for increasing heat or electricity production.

Lower fuel consumption. Cleaner tubes mean increased heat transfer and efficiency.

Lower and more stable differential pressure. Infrasound cleaning reaches areas that are not accessible to conventional soot cleaning systems. This means higher availability of the boiler and lower load on ID/FD fans.

Fewer and shorter outages for manual cleaning. With improved cleaning effect you can obtain higher availability and fewer man-hours spent.

Increased lifetime of heat exchangers. By reducing or eliminating steam sootblowing or shot cleaning, the lifetime of heat exchangers is prolonged. Infrasound cleaning is a non-abrasive cleaning method that does not wear on heat exchange surfaces or catalyst elements and does not contribute to corrosion or erosion. Using our optimized steam sootblowing also reduces wear since steam is supplied only half the time.

TPK-EPO, Sevnica Slovenia

A case study and results from our infrasound cleaning installation on a biomass boiler at TPK EPO. Before the installation of the Infrasound generators at TPK-EPO, the multi cyclone and the fintubed economizer were cleaned every 6-8 weeks due to increasing flue gas dP. The economizer is also cleaned with steam soot blowers. After the installation the eco and multi cylone are cleaned once per year.

Idbäcksverket, Nyköping Sweden

A case study and results from our infrasound cleaning installation on a biomass boiler at Idbäcksverket. The reason for installing the Infrasound generators on Idbäcksverket was that the steam soot blowing causing extensive damages to the tube bundles, resulting in unplanned stops for repairs.

Nässjö Affärsverk RP12, Nässjö Sweden

A case study and results from our infrasound cleaning installation on a biomass boiler at Nässjö affärsverk. Compressed air soot blowing is installed at Nässjö Affärsverk, but relatively ineffective because of the valves being mounted on the turning chamber, far away from the problem area. This results in the air pressure not reaching the problem area.

Lugnviksverket, Östersund Sweden

The infrasound system was installed in order to increase the efficiency of the boiler, by saving soot blowing steam, and to reduce wear on the tube bundles and the catalyst elements. The staff had concluded the damage of the catalyst elements was related to operation of the steam soot blowers.
