The boiler island in a power plant constitutes the highest capital expenditure asset and the fuel is generally the single highest operational expenditure of the plant. Often, not enough attention is given to continuously improve the energy transformation efficiency; from raw fuel to the refined end-products heat and power. The potential for sustainable and profitable growth is directly connected to how well the plant handles increasing demands, from both consumers and legislators (BREF), on reduced emissions.

Suralaya Power Station, Suralaya Indonesia

There are two size 28 secondary Air Preheaters on Suralaya Power station (APH) and two size 22,5 primary APH on the 400 MW boiler. Infrasound cleaning is installed on one of the secondary APHs. All APHs are equipped with four steam soot blowers each, which were operated every 12 hours.

EVO, Offenbach Germany

A case study and results from our infrasound cleaning installation on a coal-fired boiler at Evo Offenbach. EVO, Offenbach has two 110 MW Babcock-Hitachi boilers installed in 1989 for district heating and power production. These CFB-boilers were intended to be self-cleaning, consequently, no soot-cleaning device was installed.
