This white paper focuses mainly on challenges and solutions related to fouling and sootcleaning for recovery boilers at chemical pulp mills. The black liquor recovery boiler is so integral today that, without it, most pulp mills would have to shut down operations due to high chemical and electricity costs. In the first chapter, we will present common fouling challenges, and how inefficient sootblower operation can consume unnecessary steam. In the second chapter, solutions to these challenges will be presented.
