The customer’s Götaverken recovery boiler, commissioned in 1976 and upgraded to 2,600 tDS/day (from 1,900 tDS/day), operates at 350 t/h with sootblowers consuming about 27 t/h (7.5%). To improve efficiency, HISS^® technology was implemented in June 2024 to optimize online cleaning, reduce sootblowing steam use, and raise main steam temperature while maintaining high availability.

Between January 2023 and June 2025, sootblowing steam flow decreased by 34%, while boiler load and steam to the turbine increased. Although the reference period showed unusually low load and a longer start-up, HISS^® has proven effective by minimizing unnecessary sootblowing at partial load, improving steam utilization and overall boiler performance.
