Situation description
The Customer, Ahlström-Munksjö, Billingsfors, has a recovery boiler, and they were operating their retractable sootblowers with full steam flow in both directions before installing HISS™
Traditionally, about 5-10% of the steam produced in recovery boilers is used for sootblowing. High pressure steam is blown on heat transfer surfaces 24/7, consuming a very large amount of energy. The steam consumption of sootblowers can be reduced by 40-50% with a new and more efficient method.
Billingsfors implemented Heat Management’s High Impact Sootblowing System (HISS™) to reduce their sootblowing steam consumption.
