The purpose of installing the infrasound generator on Värtaverket was to remove ashes stuck on the inner walls of the silo. Earlier the staff had to enter the silo with safety lines and try to remove the ashes manually. This was a very unsafe procedure since large amounts of ashes could fall on the staff. An infrasound generator was installed on top of the silo to solve the problem.
