Sootblow more, with less steam
More than 90% of the cleaning by a sootblower takes place during the sootblower’s initial stroke.
When the sootblower is retracted, 50% of the steam is used unnecessarily while the soft ash is sintered into concrete-like deposits.
With HISS® (High Impact Sootblowing System), several sootblowers can be operated in parallel with or without return steam, i.e. more sootblowing, less steam, more easily removed ash.

In 2024, Heat Management partnered with a Hungarian paper mill to support the optimization of their boiler operation. The deployment of HISS® marked a strategic step toward improving cleaning efficiency, extending equipment lifetime, and supporting more stable and cost-effective boiler operation.
Fábrica de Celulose, Suécia
The customer’s Götaverken recovery boiler, commissioned in 1976 and upgraded to 2,600 tDS/day (from 1,900 tDS/day), operates at 350 t/h with sootblowers consuming about 27 t/h (7.5%). To improve efficiency, HISS® technology was implemented in June 2024 to optimize online cleaning, reduce sootblowing steam use, and raise main steam temperature while maintaining high availability.
