Situation description

At Sandviken Energi, The smoke tube boiler produces the basis of Storvik’s district heating. There was previously no soot cleaning equipment installed on the boiler. Deposits of soot, particularly in the inlet to the first pass, resulted in rising outlet temperature and reduced boiler efficiency. Stopping the boiler for manual cleaning was required when the outlet temperature had increased to 220 ° C. This happened four times a year.

During manual cleaning LPG is used as fuel in secondary boiler. To increase the boiler’s availability and efficiency, an infrasound generator was installed.
