Situation description

An analysis of operational data at Kraftvärmeverket Eskilstuna showed long term fouling of superheaters during the operating season. The economizer and the Air preheater in the back pass of the boiler showed no signs.

HISS was installed for being able to soot blowing more often in the superheaters, thereby keeping those parts clean, without consuming more soot blowing steam. In the economizer and air preheater, the same soot blowing rate was kept using HISS, saving 50% steam due to the HISS one-way soot blowing.
