Situation description

During 2005 the availability of the boiler at Händelöverket was just 7600 hours due to required stops for maintenance. Apart from the two regular stops per year, the boiler had to be shut down two times per year for manual cleaning of the economizer.

The stops were necessary due to too high differential pressure over the economizer which caused an increase of the flue gas fan power and reduced the efficiency of the boiler.

During the stops, the economizer had to be water-washed to remove the deposits on the tube bundles. During normal operation, the economizer was cleaned 3-4 times per day using 6 steam soot blowers.

Norrköping installed Infrafone’s infrasound generator to:

– Increase availability
– Reduce steam consumption
– Reduce the maintenance costs of the steam soot blowers
– Increase the life-time of the tube bundles in the economiser
