Repeat order of optimized sootblowing to Swedish pulp mill

Heat Management

The Mill installed Heat Management’s HISS™ system on recovery #1 in 2018.
With a result of saving 47% of the steam used for sootblowing , possibility to increase the average boiler load by 15% and having a more stable boiler process, the Mill have now placed an order for HISS™ on recovery boiler #2.

The solution gives the opportunity to control each sootblower individually, setting up customized sequences, allowing to save up to 50% steam used by each sootblower or to increase the number of sootblowing events by up to 100% without increasing the amount of steam used, or a combination of these two results.

In addition to saving steam, the flue gas temperature and the differential pressure will be held more stable and the boiler availability will be higher. Positive influence on smelt stability has been seen on the other boiler so that is also a reason for choosing the HISS system.

HISS also brings a unique state of the art control system that can detect faults in the sootblowing system before causing disturbance in production. This will help in planning preventing maintenance, fault investigation and reduce wear of the sootblowers.

The project scope also includes continuous dialog for validation and verification, with weekly and monthly studies of process data to reveal how additional sootblowing capacity shall be distributed in the recovery boiler,

All together Return Of Investment time will be short and we are delighted to once again deliver a powerful, sustainable and highly profitable system.
